There are women being raped at jobs in there home and on dates. Some say that men are the true victims of rape crimes. In this paper, we will discover the truth about rape and whether women or men are the true victims, even if rape is fact or myth. Rapes are committed when a person have unwanted sex with another person against their own will. All across the world woman are been raped it could be someone you know are someone you may not know. Man are use any means to get what the want know matter what the cost of their action cause the woman they made have rape.

Rape to men is just another r way of controlling women. “This explanation holds that the motivation to rape has little, if anything to do with sexual desire. Instead, it holds that rape is an attempt by men to dominate and control women. It also contends that rape only occurs when males are taught by their culture, directly or indirectly, to rape. ” (Thornhill, 2004). Some say rape is like a common cold in today world. Women are force to have sex against their will with a man. The problem with is no matter what if she say no he can still rape her because he is a like stronger.

People say what women wear cause them to be a victim of rape, but lord know that not true what you wear should not give a person the right to take something that is valuable to you “Rape is the common cold of society. Although rape is much more serious than the common cold, the systems are the same. We have assimilated rape into everyday culture much as we have the cold. Like the folklore surrounding the common cold, there is folklore about rape, like the notion that if a woman wear revealing clothing or goes to a bar alone, she likely to “get raped. But in fact a woman is no likely to be raped from these activities than from simply dating a man or being home alone. ” (Pearson, 2000). Many time rapes are committed by someone that the woman may not know, but the majority of rapes are committed by acquaintance or someone you may know “ Intimates ( husbands, ex-spouses, boyfriends, ex-boyfriends) committed 20 percent of rapes, acquaintances 50 percent, and strangers 30 percent of the rapes reported to NCVS between 1987-1991. ” (Buchwald, 1998).

When it come down to a woman say no even under the influence of alcohol men should listen no mean no, know matter what the situation is there will always be consequences to this action. This has been a problem for over 20 years that women being assaulted by their acquaintance. Armstrong stated (2006) “colleges and universities have been aware of the problem of sexual assault for at least 20 years, directing resources toward prevention and providing services to students who have been sexually assaulted. ” Because of this woman on campus remains a victim of sexually assault.

Not to say that they do not have prevention programs to help women that have been rape on campus but who to say that they are working on preventing this problem from getting worst. When you hear about rape you only hear about the women that have been a victim of rape, now there are more then just women being victimize their young children who have been a victim of rape crimes. As stated by the National Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse in 1991 the survey of child protective service agencies listed 404,100 reported sexual abuse to a child.

These report did not state the sexual abuse by non-caretaker. (Buchwald, 1998). Children are being sexually assaulted between the age of 11 and 17 year. The majority of rapes occur to children during their childhood to adolescence. [pic] In most cases, when come to rape people look at it as if rape is a mythical animal. People feel to believe that the victims of these types of crime are lying, which makes the excused the victim and victim the excused. More often, enough women are made in cases to relive the rape in order to prove that they had been rape. The female victim is often made to described in graphic detail what has happened to her, and whilst changes implemented in 2000 have sought to improve the situation for the victim in court, a rape trial is still likely to be an unpleasant and traumatic experience. ” (Gray Feb. 2006). Why the victim should become the excused and the excused never pay for the crimes that were committed. In these cases, we should always think about the victim because if the excused keep getting release from their crimes all we doing are rape the victim again.

What we fail to realizes is that a lot of rape crime are not reported because the victim feel that know would believe them. Statistics stated that 73,950 of the rape are reported to the polices while 119,340 are not report to police. Only 53% of the rape victim is treated that have been reported the other 47% are not treat that was reported to the police. As for not reported victim 18% of the victim are treated and 82% are not treated for their injures. [pic] Many rapist get off because the woman refuse to report what has happen to them. So to it like we are give the rapist a pat on their backs for raping someone.

Cause of the pain that women face after being rape they refuse to report it to the police or any other person who may be able to help them with the situation that has happen to them. “ No one asks to be raped, but it is easy to understand why a victim might choose not to report a rape. The medical exam is painful and the legal process forces the victim to visit and revisit the rape. Then, especially in cases where the victim knows the perpetrator, there is always a fear with regards to the victim’s safety and the victim can count on being degraded and humiliated in court by the defense attorney.

Does this sound like something you would choose to experience? ” (Repp, 2001). After being raped the victims have to face a lot of pain and suffer due to feel humiliation of what has happen to them. “Even though rape is the most under-reported crime due to all the fear, pain and humiliation the victim suffers, first at the hands of the rapist, then at the hands of the justice system, many people believe that women frequently “cry rape. ” The FBI reports that false accusations account for only 2% of all reported sexual assaults, which is no higher than false reports for any other crime. (Repp, 2001). The sad part of all is that now men are using ecstasy to victimize women. The mixture of this drug and alcohol make a woman almost forget what has happen to them until they wake up from the effects of this drug. “The severely incapacitated person is unable to consent to sexual acts and/or unable to physically resist them. These two features should distinguish DFSA from cases where people who happen to have been drinking or taking other drugs are sexually assaulted against their will, deny consent, and/or resist the act. (Jansen March 2006). Not only are men used ecstasy to have sex with women against but they are also using methamphetamine to have unwanted sex with their victim. When using the consuming of drug and alcohol a woman can be come unaware of what is happen to them. “Until recently, the generally understood meaning of drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) was that it probably involves the surreptitious slipping of drug into a person’s beverage or food as a result of which the person becomes severely incapacitated and/or unconscious. ” (Jansen March 2006).

The victims of a rape crime never forget what has happened to them because they have to relive the crime everyday of their lives. The victims not only have relived the rape in court. Sometime the victim can feel that they are being rape by courts because their accused can get off because of you word against that person. The effects of the rape continue to affect their lives after the trial. “Afterwards victims are often most disturbed by the terror they experienced and re-experienced as being completely vulnerable. They know that during the rape, the rapist had the power to do anything to them, including take their lives.

And there are no guarantees. Some women have been brutalized even though they submitted. There are no rules on how to survive a sexual assault. ” (Repp, 2001). More then half rape case go unsolved because people believe that the victim is lying about what really happens but who are we to say that they are not tell the truth. One should not judge because we can never really know who is telling the truth when it come to a cases like this. Rape victim should not have to prove that the truth lies with in there story of their rape.

Sometime a woman may lie about being rape to get back at a man but in most cases, they are not lying about the rape. Rape not only happens to a women but also to our children so if we say that they are lying they will all cover up the hidden truth from you. One should never say that someone is lying about something that is so important to listen to by let thing ride we are continue to rape that victim over and over again. They say rape is like the common cold to are society so if society keep looking away when it come to woman, children and yes even man being rape we will always see it like a common cold.

Look at the message we are sending rapist it okay to rape someone because in the end you may get off anyway. Reference List: Armstrong, E. , Hamilton, L. , & Sweeney, B. (2006).
