Pula. Sa Puti ( For the Red Rooster. For the White Rooster ) is a drama in one act. written by Francisco “Soc” Rodrigo. It was foremost staged on 10 Sept. 1939 by the University of the Philippines Dramatic Club at the Manila Metropolitan Theater. Originally. this was written by Rodrigo in English for his category in dramatics under Jean Garrot Edades at the University of Santo Thomas. It has been expanded and revised by Rodrigo and he later translated it in Tagalog. It has besides been published in Short Plays of the Philippines. Manila: Robert S. Hendry. 1950. by Jean Edades.
One forenoon Kulas greeted his married woman a pleasant forenoon but Celing answered dryly. She was covetous and covetous about Kulas’s contending pricks for they were the first idea of Kulas every forenoon. Kulas explained that he merely cared for the pricks for their ain good. Celing didn’t believe any longer on Kulas grounds for he was ever defeated by his opposition.
Kulas ever believed on his dream and thought that those dreams had marks that he would win the battle. Celing narrated all the dreams that Kulas told her but he didn’t win. She was already ill with Kulas’ grounds. He asked if he could give her money to pass for the cockfight. Kulas heard the cry of people from the cockfight and he was truly eager to acquire the money. Celing had nil to make but give him money and Kulas went the out the house hastily.
Teban commanded Celing to wager on Kulas’s opposition. This is her manner to acquire the money of Kulas spent in the sabong for Kulas was ever a also-ran. Celing was right ; Kulas went home defeated by his opposition. He promised ne’er to wager once more.
Castor taught Kulas some techniques how to win a battle in a manner of rip offing when Celing was out in the market. He will wager on his opponent’s prick! Kulas went to the battle and stake but this clip he staked at his opponent’s prick. Kulas was disappointed after the battle because his prick won. He went place and his married woman asked him the money for his prick won he said he lost the battle for he bet on the opponent’s side. Celing was astonished and confessed her secret that every clip Kulas go to contend she wager on his opposition. They have a good dinner at that clip for the pricks left were made adobo. .
