I. Introduction The researchers provide the basic information needed for the completion of the study in this chapter. This chapter also delves on the proposal of the system as well as the implemented methods, which are both common tools utilized by a system analyst. The Petron Gas Station Gapan Branch started the business way back 1995. Almost a decade and a half had passed and this gas station is standing still. The technology evolves fast but this gas station doesn’t seem to evolve with regards to the technology. The gas station wasn’t that aware of the computerized system other company is using.
They are not aware yet of computerized inventory system, that is much faster, accurate and more reliable rather that the manual system which they are currently using. In manual inventory also, most of the jobs are done by writing items on a log book and keeping it on a cabinet. Some problem approaches them because they are using this kind of system, the manual inventory. To name a few, here are some of the problems they currently are facing: they go to the main branch just to know if they lose or gain profits for a day/week or month; recording of sales; updating their inventory; viewing stocks; human error, and unreliability.
Although the transactions are doing well, they have noticed that sticking to this kind of system, the manual inventory, takes time and effort to their personnel and to the company, and they have seen that it could be cheated or changed by someone easily. The gas station does not want those problems to continue and interact with their operation so that is why the researchers will hope to come up to a best solution to help the gas station. But even though they face these kinds of problems, this gas station maintains their sales, and is moving forward toward high profits.
II. Statement of the Problems The following statements are needed to address the proposed inventory system: 1. How the proposed system will help to the operation of the gas station? 2. What are the difference between the current manual inventory and the proposed computerized inventory system? 3. Who will be the prospective beneficiaries of the proposed inventory system? 4. What are the reasons to implement the proposed inventory system? 5. What will be the solutions to have faster and more reliable inventory? 6.
How to come up to a solution that may solve the gas station’s problems? 7. How to know if the gas station gain or lose profits in a day/week or in a month? III. Objectives of the Study The researchers will provide the objectives of this study for further presentation of the inventory system to be proposed to the client company: 1. To present and show how effective the inventory system is compared to the manual inventory. 2. To prove that the proposed inventory system is more reliable 3. To encourage the gas station to use computers as their primary inventory. . The improvement of the station’s processes. 5. To save the gas station’s time and effort wasted by the manual inventory process. 6. To be more secured. IV. Scope and Delimitation The researchers will develop software for the station’s daily/weekly and monthly inventory. It will monitor their stocks and profits. The software will have the database of the business, but it will only rely onto the business’ information. The proposed system will control the errors in handling and minimize their effort and time.
It will also be a big help because of its reliability and more accurate system. The proposed inventory system will improve and upgrade the manual system of the station and the proposed inventory system will have backups to their data or file to secure their system in viruses and file corruption. The proposed inventory system will help the gas station’s key people and they will be given an up to date account for the inventory system for them to access it. The researchers will provide software for the station’s daily sales and to monitor their stocks.
V. Significance of the Study The educational significance of this study will be that the students will learn more by the help of this proposal. The researchers will develop a system that will be a big help to students especially for those in college level who will conduct a research on their own someday. This will also serve a guide as well, for the students to be aware in doing their research works. VI. Hypothesis of the Study The researchers will provide some predictions about the proposed inventory system: 1.
The proposed inventory system could be the answer to the problems of the gas station. 2. When talking about minimizing the time, effort and cost, the proposed inventory system will be faster, more accurate, secure and reliable. 3. It will decrease the data handling errors through the help of the proposed inventory system. 4. Another thing it can do is to monitor their stocks. It can also determine if their sales decrease or increase. 5. The proposed inventory system will upgrade the current manual inventory to computerized inventory.
